The next installment in our Spooky Season Series is here! You didn't think we'd stop with ghosts, did ya?
Halloween also means witches and magic and mayhem, so here we are with our favorite books and movies about all things witchy.
🎃🎃🎃
A classic, this tale is a spin on Cinderella and is one of our favorites! Its about Ella, who was given the "gift" of obedience at birth. Which means, whatever she is told to do, she has to do it. Her stepmother and stepsisters exploit this all the time, and Ella, fed up, decides to go on a quest to find the fairy who gave her this gift and ask her to undo it.
Gail Carson Levine's stories are always so beautiful and with amazing messages, as well. A must-read!
Its about Amber Sand, who is a Matchmaker as in, she can actually see who your true love is after 5 seconds of eye contact. However, she's never seen who her true love is...
A super cute series about love, magic and friendship, we had our share of laughs and screams of anguish (face palm), and we definitely recommend.
Okay, the title HAS to be enough for you to pick up this book. Its got pirates, witches, mermaid AND a love story (swoon). Also, we loved how the issues like race and gender identity were touched in the book!
All in all, amazing writing and we're looking forward to reading more works by this author.
This trilogy is about Sophie, who finds out she's a witch and gets sent to a school for magical creatures, where she unearths a conspiracy about a secret society out to rid the world of magical creatures...
Sophie is everything we love in a YA protagnist: smart, snarky and adventurous, which is why this series is an old favorite of ours and we can't wait to reread it again!
Hannah is an Elemental witch living in Salem, Massachusetts.
Aside from having magic, she's just like your normal teenage girl- dealing with a crazy ex-girlfriend, worrying about her college applications, and dealing with a Blood Witch who's out to attack her coven. Totally normal, right?
A great book, the second in the duology was released this year! We loved the series and are sure you will, too.
Alex is a bruja, the most powerful type of witch, but HATES magic. So, she decides to perform a spell which should get rid of her magic, which backfires and her whole family disappears, instead.
A beautiful tale of family and magic, it's all about accepting your heritage and who you are. <3
This series is a little bit of magic and a little bit of Norse mythology. Joanna and her daughters Ingrid and Freya are witches with powerful abilities, which they are forced to suppress. Everything begins to unravel when Freya decides to get married to the mysterious Bran Gardiner...
A spell-binding trilogy we recommend to all.
Jane is a librarian who moves into a small cottage and stumbles on an old book. When she reads a passage out loud, something strange happens...
Quirky and fun, its a great series to read!
We haven't read this yet, but the premise caught our eye: A witchy-dystopian tale about Immanuelle who tries to be devoted and submissive, as women should. Until one day, she discovers her late mother's journal...
Many reviews have said this was sort of like Handmaiden's Tale meets Salem, so we can't wait to read it!
