In honor of Pride Month, I initially planned on writing reviews for all my favorite LGBTQ+ novels, but I never got around to it (darned online classes). So, I decided to make a list, instead.
Here are my top favorites:
1. Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde
I think this was the first book I read about an LGBTQ+ protagonist, and I loved it a lot. Its about three friends at a Comic Con, and they end up learning a lot about themselves and each other. This book is definitely an all time fave of mine.
2. Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
THIS BOOK. Its an enemies-to-lovers trope, which is my favorite kind of trope, and is a super cute, swoon-worthy romance. The book is about the son of the US President and The Prince of England, both (unfortunately) fictional, of course. 10/10 recommend!
3. Only Mostly Devastated by Sophie Gonzales
This was one of the very few books which actually made me cry. It was just, so raw and real. I don't know what else to say, except that its a must-read.
4. Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda
I have a confession: I saw the movie first. I saw this book everywhere, but never read it. Then, I watched the movie, and it was so good! (I also heard it got a spin-off, Love, Victor!) So, I read the book, and spent the rest of the day beating myself up for not reading it sooner.
5. We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia
All the books on my list were YA till now, so here's another genre. :D We Set the Dark on Fire is set in a fictional society, where young women are prepared to be one of two things: A Wife who oversees all the housework, or a Wife who is merely there for procreation. Its definitely worth a read, even if you're not that into Fantasy. Part Two, We Unleash the Merciless Storm, is also out!
6. These Witches Don't Burn by Isabel Sterling
Okay so as I was writing this post i realized book two is also out!!! This book has it all- it was funny, cute and its about Witches! Who doesn't like Witchcraft and Magic?
I also have a loooooot of books on my TBR that I'm super excited to read. These are a few:
1. Super Adjacent by Crystal Cestari
Windy City Magic is one of my favorite series, written by Crystal Cestari, so when I saw that she released another book, I knew i had to read it. Its about super heroes and is a "banter filled romance", so I can't wait to read it!
2. Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
This book came to my attention thanks to Uncle Rick on Twitter. Its about how Yadriel, the protagonist, accidentally summons a ghost, and must solve the mystery about his death.
Will be published on: September 1st, 2020
3. The Friend Scheme by Cale Dietrich
So, this book is about Matt who doesn't want to follow his father's footsteps into a criminal life. He makes a friend with a few secrets of his own...
I mean, need I say anymore?
Will be published on: July 28th,2020
4. The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar
Okay, so I'll be honest: The title really caught my eye. I LOVE mehendi and an entire book about it? Sign me up! Also, this seems to be an enemies-to-lovers trope, which I love! (Did I mention that, already? lol)
5. We Are Totally Normal by Rahul Kanakia
So this one isn't a TBR, but more of A TBF, i.e, a To-Be-Fnished. I saw this book on a lot of reading lists, so I started it, but stopped after a few pages. I hope I can get around to finishing it soon!
